What Is LeadPages?
Before we answer this question, we have to define what a landing page is…
What is a landing page?
A landing page is any page that a customer arrives at when they first visit a site.
It can be a sales page, an “About Us” page, a home page, or an opt-in page…it’s really up to you.
LeadPages is a simple page builder.
It’s easy to use right out-of-the-box to create professional landing pages, “About Us” pages, product listings etc.
What Is ClickFunnels?
Before we answer this question, we have to define what a funnel is…
What is a funnel?
A sales funnel is an entire series of pages that are designed to convert customers.
You might want to collect emails, make a sale, or offer a free trial — whatever your goal is, a well-designed funnel can make it happen.
ClickFunnels is a full-on funnel builder.
It streamlines the process of building pages AND building fully-optimized funnels.

Now let’s look in-depth at the individual features of LeadPages vs. ClickFunnels…
LeadPages Vs ClickFunnels Page Builder
Both ClickFunnels and LeadPages use drag-and-drop page builders.
This means that you build and edit pages by dragging elements onto the page and setting them where you want.
LeadPages Page Builder
Many of LeadPages’ page designs can be customized with their drag-and-drop page builder (others can’t, but we’ll explain this more in the next section…).
You can add video, images, buttons, headers, text boxes, custom HTML, and more…
Unfortunately, Leadpages doesn’t let you position elements exactly where you want.
Instead, you’re restricted to certain positions were they “snap” into place on a predefined grid.
You’ll be able to get them close, but you won’t be able to scoot them slightly to the left, down a smidge, or up a tickle.
There’s one more complaint that a lot of LeadPages users report, and that’s that the page builder can be a bit buggy/glitchy.
On the upside, it lets you switch between desktop, mobile, and tablet mode with the click of a button, so you can instantly preview what your design looks like on different devices (ClickFunnels does this too).
ClickFunnels Page Builder
ClickFunnels is known for its easy-to-use page builder, and it’s one of the main things that sets it apart from the competition.
You can tweak any of the pre-designed templates with very little effort, and if there’s ever anything outside of the scope of the page builder you can always add custom CSS code.
For the most part though, you should be able to take care of everything with the builder.
Unlike LeadPages, you can position elements exactly where you want them.
All you have to do is adjust the margins and padding from the control panel.
Just slide the toggle to the right or to the left to fine-tune the amount of space between elements.
You can also easily change the color of any element (this is true with LeadPages too).
Overall, Russell’s page builder is much better than LeadPages.
It’s more intuitive, allows you to position elements exactly where you want, and is less glitchy.
LeadPages Vs ClickFunnels Page Templates
In the epic battle between LeadPages and ClickFunnels, ClickFunnels wins the page design competition.
ClickFunnels used to have a reputation for having overly “salesly” page designs, but those days are in the past.
Between their large selection of professional landing pages and superior page builder, they definitely have the upper hand.
And keep in mind you can always create your own custom, beautiful looking, high-converting templates (that’s what we provide our students virtual summit funnel templates in Virtual Summit Mastery and tons of other sales funnel templates in Funnel Wizard).
LeadPages Page Templates
LeadPages has some killer pre-built landing pages that look amazing out-of-the-box.
If all you want is a crisp, clean landing pages that are ready-to-rock, then LeadPages has you covered.
Some of their older templates don’t work with the drag-and-drop builder and there’s very little you can change about them.
For example, if you remove an element from a standard template, you’re left with a big empty space that you can’t do anything with (womp, womp).
In fact, LeadPages headquarters even encourages its users to steer clear of their standard templates and to use the newer ones instead.
On the positive side, the sheer number of templates (over 160) somewhat makes up for the lack of customization options.
They have templates for almost every situation:
- 404 pages
- Hosting the perfect webinar
- Thank You pages
- Checkout pages
- Launch pages
…and they all look great as is.
ClickFunnels Page Templates
ClickFunnels’ page templates are a different animal altogether.
The first thing you’ll notice when you enter the Funnel Marketplace is that you don’t just have templates for individual pages…but you also have templates for FULL funnels.
Many of the templates are free, and they’re ALL designed to convert.
If you want to branch out from the freebies, you can find all sorts of page and funnel templates ranging from $8 to $297 per set (or your can always get our amazing sales funnel templates and pages we provide in Funnel Wizard).
Each template has a specific purpose:
- Product launch
- Membership program
- Sales funnel, etc.
As for the individual page templates, you’ll find…
- Squeeze pages
- Reverse squeeze pages
- Sales letter pages
- Application pages
- Upsell pages
- Offer wall pages
- Thank You pages
In the end, if you want pages AND funnels that seriously boost conversions, then ClickFunnels is the way to go.
LeadPages Vs ClickFunnels Funnel Builder
This shouldn’t come as a surprise, but ClickFunnels is by far the superior tool for building funnels.
You can still get the job done with LeadPages, but it’s a much less intuitive process.
LeadPages Funnel Builder
Building a full funnel with LeadPages is a stretch.
Although it technically comes with all the pieces you need, like a page builder, payment processor, and email integrations, actually turning them into an operational funnel is another story.
For example, you can build a page that collects emails (squeeze page), then link it to a page with a sales video, and then link that to a checkout page, and finally to a thank you page.
ClickFunnels Funnel Builder
ClickFunnels has streamlined the process of turning individual pages into funnels.
As a matter of fact, they’ve already done it for you.
You get to choose between pre-built lead funnels, sales funnels, and event funnels that are designed for all sorts of industries.
When you open up the funnel builder you have two processes to choose from:
- The Cookbook Builder Process (guided)
- Classic Funnel Builder (DIY)
With the Cookbook Builder, you create funnels based off of the industry you’re working in:
With the Classic Funnel Builder, you start with the goal you want to accomplish and go from there:
- Collect emails
- Host a webinar
- Sell a product…
At the same time, you always have the option to cut to the chase and create a custom funnel whenever you like.
LeadPages Vs ClickFunnels Split Testing
Split testing is the soul of optimization.
Swapping out a single word, changing the color of a button, or adding an element to an image can 2x, 3x, or 4x your conversions instantly.
LeadPages Split Testing
Unfortunately, LeadPages Standard and Pro Plans don’t allow A/B split testing.
However, if you upgrade to the Advanced Plan, then you’ll be able to split test different versions of the same page.
For instance, you’ll be able to test if a RED “Purchase” button gets more clicks than a BLUE “Purchase” button.
ClickFunnels Split Testing
ClickFunnels has unlimited split testing, and all your page and funnel variations are neatly organized inside the ClickFunnels dashboard.
For example, you can see three different versions of the same page side-by-side and quickly compare their performance.
LeadPages Vs ClickFunnels Analytics
Both ClickFunnels and Leadpages let you track page performance using Google Analytics, but LeadPages has a neat feature that displays conversion rates and page visits right within the LeadPages platform.
Connect LeadPages to your Google Analytics account to get maximum feedback on all your data.
However, if all you want to track is…
- Page views
- Unique page views
- Conversions (opt-ins)
- Conversion rates
…then you can find it all in your LeadPages dashboard.
If all you want is basic info on page visits and conversions without hassling with Google Analytics, then LeadPages is a better option.
ClickFunnels also links to Google Analytics and allows you to set up Facebook retargeting pixels.
This way you can strategically retarget people based on certain past behaviors.
For example, you can target people who watched your first sales video 30% of the way through.
LeadPages Vs ClickFunnels Upsells and Downsells
This is one area where ClickFunnels blows LeadPages out of the water.
Upselling and downselling are central to the science of sales funnels, which is what ClickFunnels does best.
LeadPages Upsells and Downsells
Only the Advanced Plan lets you do one-click upsells, and only the Pro and Advanced plans have one-click signups with LeadLinks or LeadDigits.
ClickFunnels Upsells and Downsells
ClickFunnels has tons of options of One-Time Offers (OTOs), One-Click Upsells, Bump Offers, upsells, downsells, and everything in between.
LeadPages Vs ClickFunnels Capturing Leads
LeadPages is sufficient for collecting emails but it falls a little short if you’re trying to warm customers up for a purchase.
ClickFunnels, on the other hand, is highly-optimized for maximizing conversions.
LeadPages Capturing Leads
LeadPages has a feature called LeadBoxes for creating opt-in pop-ups.
The best part is, you can schedule them to trigger after the visitor has been on the page for a certain amount of time or when they try to exit the page (ClickFunnels does this too).
You can also install bars at the top of your pages where visitors can submit their email at any time.
The LeadDigits feature lets visitors opt-in to you email list via SMS messages.
Finally, LeadPages has a feature called LeadLinks, which inserts one-click links into your email campaigns.
When the user clicks the link, they’re instantly registered (no need for a confirmation step).
Once you capture the lead, their email is instantly sent to your CRM, email list, or webinar platform.
ClickFunnels Capturing Leads
Capturing leads, nurturing an audience, and warming them up for biggers sales is what ClickFunnels does best.
There are several ways to capture leads with ClickFunnels, but it usually starts with a squeeze page.
A squeeze page goes at the beginning of a funnel, and its sole purpose is to gather the email — this way if the lead decides to bounce, you’ll already have their contact info for retargeting.
If you want to get fancy, you can use a survey page to pre-qualify and segment your leads.
Based on how they answer the questions, you can hit them with sales copy that’s written specifically for them.
PLUS your opt-in boxes link directly to your autoresponder/CRM.
LeadPages Vs ClickFunnels Website Integration
Both LeadPages and ClickFunnels allow you to build pages and embed them into other CMS platforms like WordPress and Squarespace websites.
LeadPages Website Integration
LeadPages integrates directly with WordPress, Squarespace, Drupal, Joomla, and more…
In fact, you can even build pages using LeadPages and then publish them on your WordPress site using a simple plugin.
If you run a blog, LeadPages can create pop-ups and then implement them on your pre-existing blog pages.
The designs can be customized to blend with your own branding.
The Standard Plan only allows you to link to one domain, the Pro Plan links to up to three domains, and the Advanced Plan links to up to 50 domains.
ClickFunnel Website Integration
ClickFunnels uses a WordPress plugin to embed pages directly into your WordPress website.
In fact, Russell’s Funnel Builder Secrets course comes with ten pre-built home pages that are designed to blend into your WordPress website.
Here’s a quick video explaining how to do it:
Funnel Builder Secrets, by the way, is currently Russell’s most ultimate ClickFunnels package.
In addition to the Funnel Builder Secrets course, it comes with either 6 or 12 months of ClickFunnels Platinum Plan and Funnel Scripts (an epic piece of software that writes high-converting copy for you).
LeadPages Vs. ClickFunnels Membership Content
ClickFunnels has an in-house solution for hosting your members-only content.
LeadPages, on the other hand, can only connect to your membership content if it’s hosted on another CMS like WordPress.
LeadPages Membership Content
Since LeadPages doesn’t support SSO (Single-Sign-On), you won’t be able to build “members-only” pages for use with WordPress membership plugins like Memberful.
However, you can still use LeadPages to create a purchase page and then link that to your members-only WordPress pages.
ClickFunnels Membership Content
ClickFunnels gives you everything you need to create and host membership content.
After new members subscribe you have two options for distributing their content:
- Provide instant access to a course dashboard where everything is stored.
- Drip-feed content with automated email campaigns.
And before giving them access you can direct them to a Thank You/Offer Wall Page where you can upsell them on other related products.
ClickFunnels Vs LeadPages Affiliate Features
Sometimes it pays to have a little help selling your product or service, and affiliate programs are great for that.
LeadPages Affiliate Features
LeadPages doesn’t have software for managing affiliate programs.
ClickFunnels Affiliate Features
ClickFunnels Platinum Plan comes with Backpack, a platform for managing affiliate programs.
Customers can sell your product or service on your behalf in exchange for a commission.
Affiliates get a unique affiliate link that tracks their sales.
You can change payout percentages and run promotional challenges all within the ClickFunnels dashboard.
LeadPages Vs ClickFunnels Integrations
Both LeadPages and ClickFunnels have over 40+ native integrations.
Outside of these you can use Zapier to integrate more.
Overall, ClickFunnels has more options for webinars and ecommerce.
The Standard and Pro versions are limited to the 40+ native integrations listed below.
If you upgrade to their Advanced Plan, you’ll have access to over 1,000+ advanced integrations.
- Active Campaign
- Campaign Monitor
- Constant Contact
- Drip Emma
- …and more…
- PayPal, Stripe
Both ClickFunnels Basic and Etison Suite Plans have roughly 40+ native integrations and over 1,500+ integrations via Zapier.
Here are some of the native integrations that you can find in the ClickFunnels dashboard:
- Constant Contact
- Pure Leverage
- Mad Mimi
- Market Hero
Adding new integrations is easy to do from the ClickFunnels dashboard, but if you ever need help there are plenty of tutorial videos to show you how.
Here’s a quick video of how easy it is to integrate ActiveCampaign with ClickFunnels:
ClickFunnels vs. LeadPages Customer Support
ClickFunnels is known for having subpar customer support.
LeadPages, on the other hand, hits this out of the park.
LeadPages Customer Support
For starters, LeadPages offers weekly group coaching calls for all plan levels.
There’s no 24-hour chat support, but their stellar support team is available from 9am to 5pm Central time Monday-Friday.
Outside of these times, you can open a support ticket and they’ll get to it promptly.
However, if you want the highest level of service, LeadPages gives priority to their Advanced members, who get 1-on-1 Quick Start Calls and free virtual workshops.
ClickFunnels Customer Support
ClickFunnels customer support has a reputation for dropping the ball now and again, and their help documents could use some work.
They don’t have 24-hour chat support, but when you do get ahold of someone they’re usually very friendly and helpful.
However, even during the day it can take hours to hear back from chat support.
To be fair though, the positive customer comments far outweigh the bad.
ClickFunnels Vs LeadPages Training Material
ClickFunnels produces significantly more premium training courses than LeadPages, but that’s because it’s more for DIY entrepreneurs who really want to optimize their marketing.
LeadPages, on the other hand, lacks the same level of in-depth courses but still has a good amount of free training material.
LeadPages Training Material
LeadPages has a live training webinar, some courses, and one-on-one coaching at their online marketing school: Converted-U.
They also have a blog where you can find marketing advice on specific topics.
ClickFunnels Training Material
They also have an active blog where you can find plenty of actionable advice.
They’ve put obvious effort into their onboarding sequence, which should reduce the learning curve for most beginners.
Russell also has a huge collection of premium training courses, including:
His free books are also super useful…
…all you have to do is pay for shipping.
ClickFunnels Vs. LeadPages Community
ClickFunnels is known for its massive tribe of business owners and lifestyle entrepreneurs who owe their success to the funnels they’ve built with ClickFunnels.
LeadPages has nowhere near the same fanbase, but they do have a respectable Facebook group.
Leadpages has a closed Facebook group with over 17k members.
Wherever ClickFunnels’ official YouTube videos might fall short, ClickFunnels enthusiasts pick up the slack.
Russell’s loyal fans make a ton of free tutorials, and you can find them all over YouTube.
PLUS the official ClickFunnels Facebook group is roughly 200k strong.
On top of that, when you join Russell’s One Funnel Away Challenge, you get access to the OFA Challenge Facebook group — it’s full of highly-motivated members who are ready to crush it with sales funnels.

ClickFunnels Vs LeadPages Conclusion
Thanks for taking the time to read this epic, in-depth ClickFunnels vs LeadPages review.
I know it ended up being kind of long, but there was a lot to cover.
By now I hope you know which product is best for you, but just in case you’re still on the fence, here’s one last summary of each tool in just a few sentences:
LeadPages is a straightforward page builder that’s great for creating professional landing pages and capturing emails. Its pages are gorgeous but they can be a pain to customize. The page builder is glitchy and it’s hard to turn individual pages into sales funnels. Oh…and their community is pretty small (at least compared to ClickFunnels).
ClickFunnels has a superior page builder that’s relatively glitch-free. It makes it incredibly easy to combine individual pages into high-converting funnels. There’s a large collection of ready-to-go page designs and fully-loaded funnel templates in a variety of styles. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, their page builder makes it easy to customize. Oh…and their community is MASSIVE and highly engaged.
